It was a fantastic end to the year for 2017 with Alpha’s Club Championships and Awards Ceremony taking place within a few weeks of each other. Club Champs 2017 was incredibly well-attended, with nearly 100 club members in action throughout the day. With all the routines on show, it was clear to see that the club has some real talent, right from the novice youngsters, all the way up to our national competitors. It was also wonderful to welcome Alex Sprowell from Plymouth Phoenix, and Sam Sibbick from Wight Flyers, who were our guest competitors of the day. They made the top group really work for their performances while giving the crowd a super spectacle of what can be achieved in the sport. There was also a very exciting superhero DMT display of ‘Marvel v. DC’ which kept everybody entertained while the certificates and scores were being finalised. After weeks of hard work, the DMT members (and coaches!) produced a very enthralling performance with tricks and skills a-plenty! Alongside the action on the trampolines, there was also our charity raffle which had some brilliant prizes donated and was, as always, well supported. Almost £250 was raised with half going back to the club and £125 donated to the Anthony Nolan Trust. Medallists were as follows:

Alpha members finished the competitive season for 2017 at some of the highest levels within the country to great success. Alpha members were in action at English Championships and English Regional Cup in Sheffield, as well as the final National Trampoline League events in Birmingham and Gillingham ahead of the League Finals event at the Lee Valley Velodrome in the Olympic Park.

Alpha had 3 members who had qualified for English

Championships at test events in the year. Robert

Hamilton qualified in both trampoline and DMT. He

took the bronze medal in the Silver 17-18 Male

trampoline event, and finished a respectable 5th

place in DMT which was his first time competing in

the Men’s Senior event. Tivon Dillner and Molly

Loveridge were also in action on DMT in the

Silver 13-16 Male and Female events respectively.

Both had excellent competitions making the finals and both finishing in 6th place.

Tivon was also selected to compete for the Southern Region on DMT in the English Regional Cup event which included individual trampoline, synchronized trampoline and DMT as a regional team. Tivon competed his first double somersault at the event, helping the Southern Region finish 1st overall and become the English Regional Cup champions.

Elsewhere, Alpha members had good results at the League competitions in Birmingham and Gillingham which meant that 6 of them qualified through to compete 7 groups at League Finals in the Olympic Park. Katie Stokes was unfortunately out of action due to injury, but all other qualified members gave an excellent account of themselves in the preliminary rounds, all making the final except for Tegan Perkins who finished 15th place in the League 3 DMT 13-14 Female event - 10 places higher than her ranking position prior to the event.

On finals day, all members stepped up brilliantly, putting forward some excellent work and all coming away with a medal. Robert Hamilton took the gold in the League 1 15-18 Male DMT as well as a bronze in the Synchro Trampoline 19+ Male event with partner Alex Sprowell from Plymouth Phoenix. Silver medals were achieved by Faith Hoban in DT Cat 2 9+ Female Trampoline, and Francesca Hamilton in the League 2 19+ Female DMT event. Tivon Dillner finished the day adding to the medal tally with a bronze in his DMT League 3 13-14 Male group. A super end to the competition season from everybody involved!
