The first regional competition of the year was held at Farnborough on 3rd February and Alpha Trampoline Club had two members competing.

Annabel has so far had fantastic success since she began competing, qualifying at the first attempt at regional assessment grades G and F. Farnborough was Annabel’s first competition at Assessment E and she completed a brilliant first routine, placing her in 5th position. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to complete her second routine but we know she’ll do it at the next competition in Southampton!

Our other competitor, Ruth, also had a fantastic day. After competing at regional assessment grade G for a while, Ruth held her nerve fantastically well and completed two solid routines, scoring highly enough to qualify to regional grade F at her first attempt with Alpha. We are very proud of her and looking forward to her competing at this higher grade in just a month’s time!

At the second Regional Assessment of the year, held at Southampton on 3rd March, Alpha had an excellent set of results with all competitors coming away with a top 10 finish.

Robbie competed 3 superb routines and scored impressively with the judges. He not only came 1st but also received a Promotional Offer to compete at National C - the first grade of national competition.

Annabel was competing at Assessment E in only her fourth competitive outing. She narrowly missed out on qualifying to Regional D but managed to finish 3rd in her group of 16 competitors.

Ruth was also in action again, competing at Assessment F only 4 weeks after qualifying. With new routines and difficulties, she held her nerve and finished 10th in a tough group of 25.

The results were excellent and continued the success that Alpha have had since the beginning of both the national and regional season. We’re looking forward to the next competitive outing in April!

At Gillingham on the 26th January, our very own Francesca competed at the first National Gala of the season. After two fantastic routines, Francesca was lying in 3rd position and so qualified for the final. With all competitors starting from a zero score, Francesca held her nerve and competed well, narrowly missing out on a medal and finishing in 4th place.

Francesca scored so highly that she gained qualification to the British Championships in July and also received a Promotional Offer to go up to the next grade, FIG B - the first International standard grade within the country. We are all very proud of Francesca for her hard work and commitment to training and wish her all the best for the rest of the season!

Thanks to the work of Alpha Trampoline Club’s new Publicity Officer, the club’s first news article was printed in the sports pages of the Alton Herald this week, out 3rd January 2013.

Hopefully, this is just the first of many press appearances for the new club!

Right at the end of May, Alpha Trampoline Club were in action at Alton Sports Centre and again continued our excellent progress in the Regional competition.

Our best results came from our Assessment G competitors, Abbie and Lucy, who were only competing for the second time. They both scored highly and were 1st and 6th respectively after their first routines. They both did excellent second routines as well which resulted in Lucy finishing 8th and narrowly missing qualification, while Abbie came 2nd and qualified up to Assessment F. A great achievement by both of them and improvements from their first competitive outing.

Also in action were Annabel, who finished 6th in Assessment E, Ruth, who finished 13th in her second competition at Assessment F, and Hannah, who despite a wobbly first routine, overcame her nerves to complete her second routine and finished 10th overall.

Out of the trampolinists we had competing at this event, Alpha had 90% routine completion and 4 out of 5 members finished in the top 10, 3 of them in the top 8. An excellent day all round!

On Saturday, 20th April, Alpha Trampoline Club attended Alton Community Festival, holding a stall and providing more information to anyone interested in joining. The event was held at Alton College from 12-3pm and Alpha members were in action displaying their skills on the trampette! We even got a few lovely photos in the local paper, including one with the Mayor!

On a brilliantly glorious Saturday, Alpha Trampoline Club enjoyed their first Annual Family Garden Party. It was the first social event as a club and was very well attended by members from all sessions as well as their parents and siblings. The sun shone allowing for a particularly hard-fought game of rounders between Parents and Coaches versus Kids! There were BBQs, football, garden trampolining, gymnastics and even the odd game of ninja thrown in! A great time was had by all and we were particularly grateful to coach Hannah for the use of a field with a particularly stunning view! Looking forward to the next social event already!

After only starting running sessions from January, Alpha were incredibly proud of one of their members for taking a British title in July.

Alpha member Francesca was competing at the Trampoline, Tumbling and DMT British Championships, which were held at the LG Arena in Birmingham. The event is the climax of the national competitive season and sees the best in the country and some of the best in the world competing at the highest level. Qualification is gained at national galas throughout the season and Francesca was one of only 23 competitors in her grade and age group who achieved the score to make her eligible to take part.

Competing in the Ladies National C U19 group, Francesca completed two solid

routines in her preliminary rounds. The top 8 of each group qualified for the next

day’s finals and Francesca’s impressive form made her the overnight leader of

her group.

With all scores in the final starting again at zero, there was everything to play for.

Francesca delivered when it really mattered, producing a stunning routine. And

much to the delight of her coaches, family and the whole of Alpha Trampoline

Club, it was enough for the gold medal and the title of British Champion! A truly

fantastic achievement and we at Alpha are very proud to say that we have a

British Champion right here in Alton!

On Saturday, 23rd November, Alpha TC invited all of its members to take part in its first ever Club Championships. Having only started as a club at the beginning of 2013, Alpha and its coaches were thrilled that so many new and younger members wanted to compete at the event and we welcomed over 22 members to take part. We had members aging from 5 up to 20 and about 90% of those taking part were experiencing trampoline competitions for the very first time. Everybody did fantastically well and there was lots of smiling and enjoyment which was great to see! All the coaches were very proud of members’ successes.

With a quiet week during the October half-term, Alpha had a spooky Halloween session with everybody coming in fancy dress, including the coaches! It was a great fun session with lots of ghoulish laughter and cackling screams! Best-dressed prizes went to Anna, Sienna and Ethan & Archie.

Saturday, 7th December, saw Alpha Trampoline Club’s inaugural Awards Ceremony and Christmas Party take place in the Performing Arts building at Alton Convent. It was a smart and professional affair with many awards on offer for members throughout the club. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to thank everybody who has helped the club through its first year, as well as handing out club colours to competitors of the 2013 season and presenting prestigious awards to various members. It was lovely to see so many members, families and relatives enjoying themselves with lots of happy, smiling faces. Followed by a buffet and a traditional Christmas boogie, complete with ‘5, 6, 7, 8’ and ‘Macarena’ dance moves, the whole evening was a fantastic success and a great night of congratulating, fun and even some aerobic gymnastics!
